A 22-year-old Minnesota man, Kelvin Luebke, was arrested Sunday after officials at White Bear Lake High School discovered he allegedly used a false identity and fraudulent documents to enroll as a senior and join the football team.
According to Principal Russell Reetz, an individual “over the age of 21” managed to evade the school district’s security measures.
“Upon our initial investigation, we have determined that while enrolling this individual, we followed our enrollment process, which is as rigorous as state law allows,” Reetz said to the parents.
Luebke, who went by the name “KJ” while attending the school, was reportedly listed on the football team.
A student from the high school said that Luebke was the suspect in question and noted that he participated in team activities.
The principal confirmed to parents that the man “appears to have provided fraudulent documentation and a false identity to enroll.” He also assured them that Luebke was banned from district property.
White Bear Lake High School requires the new commuters to submit three documents: verification of birth date, proof of address, and immunization records.
Students And Parents are Left Scared
Despite these measures, Luebke was able to pose as a minor student, raising concerns among parents and students.
“I’m scared that they’re not keeping our kids safe. I don’t understand how this man got into my kid’s school,” parent April Jorgenson told CBS News, expressing fear over Luebke’s presence around minors.
A student also said, “You need to have a record, and you need to have a physical to do these activities. We just can’t figure out how this happened.”
The student further criticized the district: “The people who were overseeing this issue and let this slip past, they need to face the consequences.”
Luebke is currently being held in Anoka County Jail on charges of theft and lewdness, and authorities continue to investigate possible criminal violations related to fraud, forgery, and unlawful conduct involving interaction with minors.
This is not the first time Kelvin has been involved in a crime case. In March 2026, Luebke was convicted of a gross misdemeanor for sending a nude image to a 15-year-old girl and was sentenced to a year of probation.
State Representative Elliott Engen, whose district includes White Bear Lake, called the case “absolutely nuts,” highlighting that Luebke posed as a 17-year-old and even played on the football team as a senior cornerback.
Engen criticized the district’s leadership, sending a letter calling for Wayne Kazmierczak, Superintendent, to resign immediately.
Principal Reetz ensured that the safety and well-being of all students remain the district’s top priority.
He has also thanked staff, families, and students who reported the suspicious activity and are helping the investigation to gain further information and details.
The investigation is ongoing, with authorities coordinating closely with the White Bear Lake Police Department.
