Kenzie Mae Leonardo, an 11-year-old volleyball player from New Richland, Minnesota, passed away at her home on October 27, 2026.

Kenzie was a student at NRHEG Schools, where she was a proud sixth grader and a member of the school’s volleyball team.

She brought energy and team spirit to the court, showing up with a smile, ready to cheer on her teammates and dig in for every play.

Her classmates and coaches remember her as someone who always encouraged others, someone whose love for friends and friends’ laughter made her days at school brighter.

11-Year-Old NRHEG School Volleyball Player Kenzie Mae Leonardo Dies, Sending Shockwaves Through the Community!

Kenzie died at home in New Richland on the evening of October 27, 2026, leaving behind her parents, Keith and Melisa (Berg) Leonardo.

While the actual reason for her death is not yet confirmed, some reports suggest that she died by suicide.

The community and her family now face a profound loss.

Her death was confirmed by her father, Keith, via his Facebook post, where he shared the obituary.

Following the post, many have expressed their sorrow over the loss of such a kind soul in the comments. One in the comment section writes;

She sounds like she was beautiful inside and out! So sorry for your families unimaginable loss! Please lean on people in this time of need!

Kenzie is remembered by many as a loving and special soul.

In her family, she was affectionately known as “Kenzie Mae the Milkyway.” She had a unique way of brightening everyone’s day.

Her friends and family fondly recall her sweet smile and her ability to light up any room.

To honor her memory, the funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, November 1, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Richland, MN, with Pastor Trish Reedstrom and Pastor Mary Iverson officiating.

The Leonardo family will greet guests during a visitation from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the church before the service.
