In a heartbreaking incident over the holiday weekend, an 8-year-old boy named Greyson Maiden tragically drowned in a private pool in Hoover, Alabama.

The young student from Rock City Preparatory School was swimming with family and friends when the accident happened.

Authorities have ruled out foul play and are treating it as a devastating accident.

The community is now mourning the loss of this energetic child, who loved playing football, spending time with friends, and discussing his faith.

The incident occurred . at a home in the 2000 block of River Lake Drive in the Southlake subdivision.

Hoover police and fire medics rushed to the scene after Greyson was found unresponsive in the pool.

He was quickly pulled from the water, and lifesaving measures were initiated immediately.

Despite their efforts, Greyson was taken to Children’s of Alabama hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Detectives and the Shelby County Coroner’s Office are still investigating the exact cause of the drowning.

Still, early reports suggest it was an unforeseen tragedy with no signs of anything suspicious.

Greyson’s mother, Jennifer Hayes, shared the painful details of that day. The family was visiting friends for a casual gathering, cooking out, watching football, and enjoying the pool.

Greyson had been playing in the shallow end with his friends, wearing goggles and dipping under the water for fun.

Hayes believes he slipped into the deeper end and couldn’t make it back up.

She explained-:

It was supposed to be a joyful time, but it turned into every parent’s nightmare.

Greyson was more than just a victim of this Hoover drowning; he was a vibrant kid full of life and spirit.

Born to Jennifer Hayes, he was known for his sweet nature and boundless energy.

He loved hanging out with other children and was passionate about football, playing for youth teams in McAdory and Irondale.

Alabama Adventure theme park was one of his favorite spots for fun outings. Beyond his active side, Greyson had a deep faith.

His mother recalled how he often talked about Jesus and wanted to live a good life so he could meet Him one day.

Hayes said-:

The loss has shattered not only Greyson’s immediate family but also his wider circle of friends, teammates, classmates, and church members.

Hayes described the widespread grief:

Rock City Preparatory School, where Greyson was a cherished student-athlete, is also in mourning, remembering him as someone who brought joy to everyone around him.
