Anthony Banda, an American professional baseball pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, was born to Frank and Danette Banda. They are of Mexican-American descent.
His ethnic background is noted as an essential aspect of his identity and connection to the Latino community, particularly in baseball.
Anthony began playing baseball at Sinton High School, and the Arizona Diamondbacks selected him in the 33rd round of the 2011 Major League Baseball draft.
However, he didn’t sign with the Diamonbacks and attended San Jacinto College, earning National Junior College Athletic Association third-team all-American honors.
Afterwards, the Milwaukee Brewers selected him in the tenth round of the 2012 MLB draft and made his professional debut with the Arizona League Brewers.
On July 31, 2014, the Brewers traded him to the Diamondbacks, and he made his major league debut against the Washington Nationals on July 22, 2017.
Moreover, Anthony played for the Tampa Bay Rays, San Francisco Giants, New York Mets, Pittsburgh Pirates, Toronto Blue Jays, Seattle Mariners, New York Yankees, Washington Nationals, and Cleveland Guardians.
The Guardians traded him to the Los Angeles Dodgers on May 17, 2026, where he won the 2026 World Series.
Anthony Banda’s Parents Are The Supportive Pillars Behind The Pitcher
Frank Anthony Banda, the son of Frank and Danette Banda, was born on August 10, 1993, in Corpus Christi, Texas. His parents raised him alongside his four siblings.
His family backed his athletic journey and always encouraged him to do better.
Frank and Danette were his biggest fans.
They were a constant presence, cheering him on from the stands and providing the continuous support every young athlete needs.
Their support went beyond just cheering. Frank took an active role in his development, recognizing their son’s talent as a left-handed pitcher.
He dedicated time to work with Anthony, helping him hone his skills and refine his technique.
This practice proved crucial during Anthony’s high school years. His team had no other left-handed pitchers, making his unique ability a valuable asset and placing him in a position to shine.
Meanwhile, Danette was the heart of his support system, providing constant love and encouragement while ensuring everything ran smoothly off the field.
The supportive presence of Frank and Danette remained the same even as Anthony climbed the ranks to the major leagues.
Anthony Banda Belongs To Mexican-American Heritage
Anthony Banda proudly represents his Mexican-American heritage on the baseball field. His ethnic background is rooted in his family history.
His father, Frank Banda, is of Mexican descent, which is a key part of Anthony’s identity. This heritage connects him to a rich cultural history and a large community of fans.
While information about his mother, Danette Banda, is less public, Anthony’s Mexican roots through his father are well-documented and often highlighted in his professional profiles.
This makes him one of the many players in Major League Baseball with Latino ancestry.
