Avid Sports Fan And Athlete Barry Dale Wilmoth’s Death Leaves a Lasting Impact on Dobson Community

The Dobson community is mourning the death of Barry Dale Wilmoth, who passed away peacefully on September 24, 2026, at the age of 64.
Surrounded by his loved ones in his hometown of Dobson, North Carolina, Barry left behind a legacy of love, laughter, and service that touched countless lives.
Barry embraced life with an infectious spirit, always ready with a joke, a quip, or a gag gift that could brighten anyone’s day.
His wicked sense of humor and strong disdain for anything Carolina became part of his trademark charm.
Known for his passion for sports, Barry spent much of his time watching, coaching, and playing.
He also cherished rounds of golf with friends and recently crowned himself the “Culinary King of the Big Green Egg,” a title he with pride.
Beyond his humor and hobbies, Barry committed himself to helping others.
He supported charitable causes such as the 508 Foundation and Give a Kid a Christmas, and he actively contributed to relief efforts by helping provide supplies to victims of Hurricane Helene in western North Carolina.
His generosity and compassion reflected his deep care for his community and those in need.
Barry’s passing reunites him with his father, Larry Wilmoth, and his son, Dave Wilmoth, in their heavenly home.
He leaves behind a loving family who will carry forward his memory: his wife, Anne Wilmoth; his son, Dan Wilmoth; his mother, Jo Ann Wilmoth; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Jeff and Lori Wilmoth, and Keith and Emily Wilmoth; his brother-in-law, Graham and Melissa Atkinson; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and close family friends.
The community will gather to honor Barry’s life at Dobson First Baptist Church on Friday, September 26, 2026.
Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by a service at 1 p.m. led by Rev. Cory Honeycutt. Burial will follow at Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the 508 Foundation at 632 Crossroad Church Rd, Dobson, NC 27017, or to Give a Kid a Christmas at PO Box 832, Dobson, NC 27017.
Moody-Davis Funeral Service of Dobson is serving the Wilmoth family.
Barry Dale Wilmoth’s death marks the loss of a devoted husband, father, and friend whose joy, humor, and compassion will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
