A Celina ISD teacher and coach was arrested Friday night on a felony charge of invasive visual recording, officials say.

William Caleb “Caleb” Elliott, 26, who teaches sixth-grade history and coaches eighth-grade football at Moore Middle School, was taken into custody by Celina police and booked into the Collin County Jail.

The district says he has been placed on administrative leave indefinitely while the investigation continues.

School officials say police executed a search warrant at Moore Middle School around 3 p.m. Friday, and the district cooperated fully.

Celina ISD’s statement also stated that district staff were not provided with the names of any potentially impacted students and that the school asked parents with concerns to contact the Celina Police or the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.

William is the Son of the Football Coach

The arrest drew extra attention because Elliott is the son of Bill Elliott, head football coach at Celina High School. One of Bill’s students shared,

“Wow! Coach Elliot’s son? Sending prayers for the family at this time. I attended CHS in 93 when he first started. Coach of the year. His son was born 3 yrs after I grad so never met him. I don’t know what’s goin on, what has happened. Everything is on speculation at this point. Just hoping it’s nothing terrible.”

Aside from his classroom and coaching duties at Moore Middle, he has been part of the local youth sports scene.

Local law enforcement has not decided to release further details. They referred to the case as an active investigation.

Officials say they will share more information as it becomes available; however, many questions remain unanswered for now.

As invasive visual recording is a felony charge in Texas, Elliott could face serious criminal penalties if convicted, including prison time from 2 to 10 years.

The Collin County Jail listing indicates that he is being held, and the case will proceed through the courts as investigators and prosecutors review the evidence.

The school district undoubtedly emphasizes that student safety is its top priority and that they are working with the police.

Parents are urged to contact the authorities or the officials with any concerns or information.

Individuals around the country, unsurprisingly, have lots of questions to ask and are concerned about children’s safety due to the rise of such cases.

One said, “Pedophilia needs to be addressed in our schools. This is ridiculous!” Another one added, “Sad this is happening every day. I see posts about teachers daily. Watch your kids. They spend more time at school than at home.”
