Richfield, Utah Native and Former Davis High School Multi-Sports Athlete, Claude Vern Blomquist, 96, Passes Away, Survived By Three Sons

Claude Vern Blomquist, a Richfield, Utah native and former athlete, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2026, at the age of 96, leaving his family and loved ones devastated.

Claude Blomquist touched the lives of many with his amazing athletic skills and service to the community.

Born on October 10, 1928, to late parents, Vern Alfred Blomquist and Margaret Sheets Wright, Claude began his athletic journey from a very young age.

He attended Davis High School in Kaysville, Utah, where he excelled in both football and track and graduated in 1947.

Similarly, during his senior year at high school,first place in the state in the 400-meter race.

Although Claue didn’t pursue his athletic journey professionally, he thrived in his career as a logistics support analyst.

After graduating from high school, Claude joined Hill Air Force Base in the Logistics Material Division, where he served as a logistics support analyst for five years before pursuing his bachelor’s degree at Utah State Agricultural College (now Utah State University).

Furthermore, after graduation, Claude and his family relocated to Bountiful, and he returned to work at Hill Air Force Base in his former position, where he was awarded the Outstanding Employee of the Year award.

Claude was also chosen to represent Hill on a team tasked with deactivating a NATO Air Force Base near Paris, France.

He later continued his career with the Boeing Company in Bellevue, Washington, and subsequently took a position as a logistics support manager with Northrop.

His team was responsible for establishing a maintenance and overhaul center for the Iranian Air Force’s military aircraft. Claude and his family moved to Tehran, Iran, in June 1972.

Similarly, after spending five years in Iran, Claude and his family returned to Bellevue, and he continued his job at Boeing in the aerospace division, working on weapons contracts for the rest of his career.

He retired from his career in 1955 and spent the rest of his life happily with his family.

Claude Blomquist Was Preceded in Death By His Longtime Wife, Patricia Larsen Blomquist

Claude Blomquist was a devoted husband to his longtime wife,

The couple first met while attending Utah State University, in a salesmanship class, and tied the knot on October 21, 1953, in Logan, Utah, at the LDS Temple.

Patricia Larsen stood by his side as his constant support through all his thick and thin. The couple was happily married for 57 years, until Patricia’s demise on January 18, 2011, at the age of 78.

Furthermore, Patricia ‘Patty’ served as the Relief Society President and served with her husband, Claude, on the Navajo Nation LDS mission.

After Claude’s retirement, the couple worked as ordinance workers in the Seattle LDS temple and later lived happily in North Logan, where they served in the Logan temple.

Furthermore, Claude and Patricia are survived by their three sons and their wives, Scott (Michelle), Rodney (Jennifer), and Mike (Samantha), as well as seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

While very little information is available about their two sons, Mike and Rodney, as they prefer to maintain a low profile, their son has been serving as the president of Team Thrift (Red Racks Thrift Stores) in Lee’s Summit, MO, since 2009.

Scott is also the owner of Highpoint Consulting LLC, a company established in 2005. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1981.

• Claude Blomquist had five siblings: Gwen, Marjorie, Betty, Paul, and Jerry. He was preceded in death by his sibling, Jerry.
• Funeral services will be held at the LDS Church located at 1105 East 2100 North in North Logan.
• Viewing will be held on Friday, September 12, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, and on Saturday, September 13, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by the funeral at 12:00 noon.
