In a remarkable display of courage and quick thinking, Ferris ISD high school student Aiden saved the life of an 8th grader suffering from heat stroke late last Friday night.

After the high school football game, Aiden was walking home when he noticed someone lying on the sidewalk around 10 p.m. in his small town.

Recognizing the unusual situation—there are few pedestrians at that hour and no unhoused population—he immediately sprang into action.

Aiden called 911 while alerting his grandparents, then went to check on the student. It quickly became clear that the 8th grader was experiencing heat stroke.

Demonstrating remarkable presence of mind, Aiden flagged down a patrol car while remaining on the phone with emergency services, staying with the student until an ambulance and his mother arrived.

Aiden’s gut feeling and instinct to help kicked in,” said his mother, Tina Marie Soria.

“His quick actions and bravery saved a life.”

Aiden’s heroism was recognized by Ferris ISD, where he received the H.E.R.O. of the Month award at the high school.

The district celebrates students like Aiden, whose dedication, courage, and compassion make a lasting impact both inside and outside the classroom.

At this week’s Ferris ISD School Board meeting, the district also students, teachers, and employees of the month, along with 13 students recognized by the College Board National Recognition Program.

The district praised these individuals for going above and beyond in academics, campus life, and service to the community.

Aiden’s quick thinking and willingness to act in a critical moment embody the spirit of excellence Ferris ISD seeks to cultivate in all its students.
