Footballer Craig Gartland’s Death Leaves Clane GAA Community Heartbroken

Clane GAA Club has announced with deep sorrow that Craig Gartland passed away this morning at the age of 34 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Craig was not only an accomplished footballer and hurler with the club, but he also dedicated countless hours to coaching, volunteering, and supporting young athletes.
His commitment to the club and the community earned him admiration and respect from all who knew him.
Although Craig spent the past few years living in the USA, he never lost touch with his roots.
He remained a loyal supporter of Clane GAA, visiting whenever he returned home and staying engaged with the club from afar.
His presence and contributions left a lasting impression on teammates, young players, and friends alike.
The loss of Craig will be profoundly felt by everyone in the Clane GAA community.
The club expressed heartfelt condolences to his wife, Jenny, daughter, Carissa, mother, Yvonne, stepdad, Johnny, grandparents, Mattie and Ann, and all other relatives and close friends.
Social media quickly filled with tributes from friends, family, and fellow club members.
Peter McIntyre wrote, “Rest in peace, young man,” while Eleanor Corrigan , “Craig was a true gentleman. My condolences to all of his family. May he rest in peace.”
Numerous others echoed similar sentiments, celebrating Craig’s dedication, kindness, and spirit.
Jenny Casey, a longtime supporter of the club, remembered Craig as “a true Clane man, a great footballer and hurler. He will be missed.”
Catherine Fitzpatrick Comiskey added,
“Such a lovely young man who dedicated his time to the club. My heart goes out to his wife, daughter, mother, stepdad, grandparents, and extended family.”
Craig Gartland embodied everything that Clane GAA values: sportsmanship, community, and selflessness.
His passing is a profound loss, but his legacy of commitment, friendship, and love for the game will continue to inspire those who knew him.
