A former standout football player at Gloucester High School, Shea O’Donnell, passed away on January 12, 2026; however, the precise details surrounding his demise remain concealed.

He was serving as a Gloucester City, New Jersey, police officer, and now his fellow police officers have been shocked by his untimely passing.

Shea O’Donnell is survived by his parents, Mike and Denise, and his daughter.

He was someone who always supported his children and nephews at Gloucester sports events.

Talking about his football career, Shea O’Donnell was a football player from Gloucester City, New Jersey. He graduated back in 2007 and spent his high school years playing on the varsity team for the Lions.

Wearing jersey number 56, he lined up mostly at offensive guard and linebacker.

In his junior year, 2005, the team had a pretty solid season, going 8-3 overall. In their leagu,e they finished 7-1, which put them in second place.

His coach from back in the day talked about how hard he worked on and off the field, and that dedication showed through as he kept grinding in college football.

Following his sudden demise, several words of condolence and people sharing their grief surfaced online.

Chelsea Canning, who was saved by Shea, expressed her gratitude and grief, writing:

OMG … I’m only alive bc of this man I was dead in the back of an ambulance and he did 120 mph all the way to cooper hospital and stayed until I was put on life support. He got me there without his love and care and understanding I wouldn’t be here. He’s touched so many hearts I loved him.

Kelly Wright-Rivas also penned a brief tribute post. She wrote, “Today a lot of people are hurting after hearing about the loss of Shae. My heart breaks for the O’Donnell family, his daughter and everyone who loved him. I’m so grateful to have so many happy memories as kids with Shae.

During this challenging time, we pray for the strength of Shea’s parents, kids, friends, colleagues, and extended family.
