According to police affidavits and surveillance footage, Sanchez, who was smelling of alcohol, approached the truck driver, who was collecting used cooking oil near a hotel.
Sanchez allegedly opened the truck’s door and confronted P.T., who was not wearing his hearing aids and had difficulty understanding Sanchez.
The situation went out of control when Sanchez allegedly threw P.T. against a wall and onto the ground.
Following that, P.T. used pepper spray, and when that failed to stop Sanchez, he stabbed him multiple times in the upper torso.
According to P.T., he used a knife because he believed Mark Sanchez was trying to kill him, saying, “This guy is trying to kill me.”
Sanchez was arrested at the hospital and charged with three misdemeanors: battery resulting in injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, and public intoxication.
The truck driver, P.T., was treated for a facial laceration and was not charged.
As of this writing, both men were hospitalized for their injuries, and legal proceedings are ongoing, with Sanchez’s initial court appearance scheduled for Tuesday (October 7, 2026).
