Former OHS Basketball Coach Harold Jacklin Passed Away, Leaving His Beloved Wife, Rosalie

Harold Jacklin shaped generations of students and educators in his community.

Harold Jacklin, a former basketball coach from Orem High School, passed away on December 4, 2026.

His daughter informed Rick Leetham, a former athlete from OHS, about his tragic passing.

Harold Jacklin was a native of Pleasant Grove, Utah, and dedicated his life to education.

He began his career teaching in the Alpine School District, and later developed his passion for sports. He coached high school baseball and basketball for many years, including a stint at Orem High School that concluded in 1976.

His impact continued to grow as he moved into school administration, serving as an Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent and as an Assistant Principal.

Moreover, he returned to his alma mater, Brigham Young University, and taught education classes and supervised student teachers.

Harold Jacklin was a man of profound depth and resilient spirit who passed away on December 4, 2026.

He was a longtime resident of Utah Valley and was known to the community as a dedicated teacher and former basketball coach.

Harold mentored young athletes and taught them the disciplines of life.

His coaching philosophy mirrored his own character, which required focus, resilience, and a quiet intensity.

The former coach was a deep, mysterious ocean with currents shaped by a life harder than anyone knew. He possessed a fiercely independent spirit and a formidable strength that allowed him to overcome every trial meant to destroy him.

Yet, beneath that formidable exterior beat the heart of an angel. Those privileged to truly know him found a man who was kind, exceptionally talented, and intelligent.

Harold built a beautiful, loving family with his devoted wife, Rosalie, and created a home founded on mutual respect and enduring love.

Rosalie, also a graduate of Pleasant Grove High School and Brigham Young University, was his constant companion and anchor.

Haroldis is survived by his beloved wife, Rosalie; his two daughters, Mandi Jacklin Olson and Becky Jacklin Sabin; his two grandsons, Kyle Sabin and Travis Sabin; and his three granddaughters, Natalie Sabin Caballero, Emma Olson, and Ashley McEvoy.

He was a proud and loving grandfather whose legacy lives on in his family.

The Jacklin family will hold a private family service to celebrate the life of a coach. He was a man worth having in your life, and to earn his trust was a rare gift.
