Despite sharing the same last name, Trey Gowdy, the former Attorney and U.S. Congress member, and Curt Gowdy, the legendary American sportscaster, are not related.

Trey Gowdy, 61, was born in Greenville, South Carolina, and is a well-known U.S. representative for South Carolina’s 4th congressional district from 2011 to 2019.

He later became a television legal analyst and is an avid fan of college football. The former politician has been married to Terri Dillard for over three decades and has two kids together.

A Legendary Sportscaster

Curt Gowdy, on the other hand, was a legendary sportscaster born in 1919 in Wyoming.

Often described as “The Voice of American Sports,” Gowdy is best known for his work with NBC and ABC Sports.

He was also a college athlete at the University of Wyoming, who excelled in basketball.

Gowdy began his broadcasting career in the 1940s and became the leading voice of the Boston Red Sox for one and a half decades.

Curt Gowdy also coined the term “Rose Bowl,” the oldest and most prestigious tournament, known as “The Granddaddy of Them All.” Countless individuals still remember the phrase.

After his retirement in the 1980s, he continued to host this long-running ABC series.

He was also inducted into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame in 2008 and has received the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame award, made occasional guest appearances, and supported Conservation Advocacy.
