Green Forest Coach Marc McCutcheon Passed Away After A Long Battle With Health Issues, Surrounded by his Family in Hospice Care!

Marc McCutcheon, a proud Fayetteville native and beloved teacher, coach, and mentor, passed away on December 1, 2026.
He spent his final days in hospice care, surrounded by loved ones, before passing away peacefully.
Known to many as “Maniac Marc” or the “Nuclear Dump Truck,” he was not only a respected educator but also a larger‑than‑life personality.

was a former Razorback and Class of ’73 Fayetteville High School graduate.
He carried his Tiger pride into higher education, majoring at the University of Central Arkansas before earning a graduate degree from the University of Arkansas.
He coached football, basketball, track, and soccer at Green Forest, where his enthusiasm helped lead the first varsity soccer teams to the State Championship.
He was passionate about weightlifting and believed it could unlock every athlete’s potential.
Moreover, he was a founder and owner of formative powerlifting gyms like Mountain Iron and Fayetteville Barbell Club.
Beyond sports, he taught history and civics with conviction, inspiring students to understand the sacrifices of America’s founders.
He also lived a colorful life as lead singer of the Muscle Tones, a doorman and bouncer in the 80s and 90s.
Family, friends, teammates, and the wider community have remembered Marc with deep affection, praising his influence on generations of young men and women.
One of his former students expressed sadness, saying:
He was an exceptional coach and person. I don’t think there was a single day I didn’t hear him laughing or see a smile on his face. He truly cared for his students and left life long impressions on them.

So Sorry to hear this. He was one of those teachers you never forget. He made an impact on so many lives.
Though his passing leaves a great void, Marc’s legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched as a coach, teacher, mentor, brother, father, and friend.
Marc is survived by his son Neil McCutcheon (Amanda), his brother Richard “Clutch” McCutcheon (Bekah), his sister Melissa “Missy” McCutcheon Milton (Michael), and his grandchildren Addie McCutcheon and Max Martin.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Gracie Martin, and brothers Buddy and John McCutcheon.
