Luke Jenson, an Oviedo, Florida native and high school student-athlete, passed away at an untimely age of 16, leaving his family and loved ones devastated.

According to reports, took his own life; however, details surrounding his untimely death are not yet available.

Luke Jenson was a talented and dedicated water polo and swimming athlete at Paul J. Hagerty High School.

As a junior for the Class of 2027, he played varsity water polo wearing jersey #8, primarily in the Driver (DR) and 2-Meter Defense (2MD) positions.

Luke began his high school water polo career as a freshman in 2026, playing as a Driver and Goalkeeper, and helped Hagerty navigate challenging seasons, including a 4-14 record his freshman year and a 6-14 record as a sophomore, with district finishes of 4th place both years.

Beyond water polo, Luke as a swimmer, competing in events such as the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke at the 2026 FHSAA 4A District 3 meet, recording personal bests of 30.51 seconds and 1:31.17, respectively.

He also participated in regional rankings, earning notable placements in Florida and HAGR competitions.

Furthermore, the untimely death of Luke Jenson has left a profound void in the lives of his family, friends, and loved ones.

Many of his loved ones are paying tribute to the late Luke and extending their heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.

Luke Jenson is survived by his parents, James Jenson and Irene Duffy Jenson; his elder sister, Kendall Jenson; grandparents, Patti and Walt Calkins, and Scott and Denise Jenson; uncles and aunts; and the entire family.

Luke Jenson Was Preceded in Death By His Elder Brother, Carter Jenson

James and Irene Jenson are facing the tragedy of losing their two sons, Luke Jenson and Carter Jenson, both of whom died by suicide.

Furthermore, Luke Jenson was preceded in death by his elder brother, , who passed away on January 12, 2026, at an untimely age of 19, taking his own life by jumping off a parking garage at the University of Central Florida.

Carter was pursuing his degree in Information Technology with a major in cybersecurity at UCF and was working for the athletics department, filming all UCF sports.

He was also a proud member of the UCF Knights Football team. Before UCF, Carter was a multi-sports athlete at Hagerty High School, from which he graduated in 2026.

Carter played Hagerty Pop Warner football, Oviedo Babe Ruth, Oviedo Little League, Blue Dolphins Swimming, and Stingrays Triathlon Team.

He also ran cross country and track all four years at Hagerty High and was part of the district championship team.

Luke and Carter Jenson’s contributions to the community and Hagerty High School as amazing athletes will always be remembered.
