Residents living along Blackwell Road in Huthwaite are calling for urgent action after a group of children was repeatedly caught kicking front doors and banging on windows of homes near the local park.

The issue has been ongoing for several weeks and has left families frustrated, frightened, and fed up with what they describe as a growing problem that nobody seems to be taking seriously enough.

Stacey Buckley, a mother of two young children, took to the Huthwaite Community Facebook group to share her experience after another incident took place involving two boys who appeared to be no older than ten years old.

She made or minor inconvenience but about the very real impact it was having on her family.

“I am SICK of kids running past my house and kicking my front door and pretty much every door on the top of Blackwell Road near the park,” she wrote. “I have two young children who get scared to play in their own living room because of kids thinking they’re being funny.”

School Involvement and Police Reports

Stacey confirmed that some of the children had previously been identified and reported to their school. She said she had emailed photographs of the boys to staff, and the school claimed to have contacted parents and informed police.

However, Stacey admitted she had little confidence in how seriously the matter had been handled, saying she would not trust Ashfield School as far as she could throw them, though she acknowledged that the original group of boys had not been seen since.

Neighbour Keith Allen added his , revealing he had reported a similar incident to the police on Sunday after his own door was targeted.

“Hopefully these kids realise the upset it causes,” he said. “I am sure they would not like it done to their parents or grandparents.”

Janet Allsop shared a common feeling of helplessness among residents. “I have reported to 101 quite a few times, and nothing seems to get done,” she said, reflecting what many on the street have experienced when trying to get an official response.

Residents Turn to CCTV for Evidence

Paul Price was among those offering practical advice, suggesting residents use a cheap dashcam placed in a window to capture footage of the incidents.

Stacey confirmed she already had a camera set up and had managed to record most of those responsible.

She noted that many of the children did not seem to realise they had to walk past the same houses again on their way home, meaning they were easily identifiable.

Ste Straw a visible CCTV warning sign in their window, they were within their rights to publish footage on social media.

Janet Jago Lee to take the footage herself to help bring the matter to a close.

Chris Mackey summed up the mood of many residents, warning that the more the issue goes unresolved, the greater the risk that someone in the community will decide to deal with it themselves.

For now, Blackwell Road residents are hoping that police and local authorities will finally step in before that point is reached.
