Kristy Wheeler alleges that her son, Landon, was being held at knifepoint at North East High School (NEHS), but the principal had zero regard for what happened.
The NEHS principal was primarily concerned about the financial aspect rather than the students’ safety.
Bullying is always wrong, but some actions are much more serious than mean words.
Forcing another student to buy you things by threatening them with a knife is not just bullying; it is a significant crime.
Victims get scared for their safety and feel they have no choice but to hand over their money or belongings. Instead of borrowing or sharing, it is referred to as theft and coercion through fear.
In the eyes of the law, using a weapon to steal from someone is a severe felony that can lead to arrest, juvenile detention, and a permanent criminal record.
A knife is a lethal weapon, and bringing it to school puts everyone at risk. The student who is threatened will likely suffer from fear, anxiety, and trauma long after the event is over.
Schools have a zero-tolerance policy for weapons, and this kind of behavior results in immediate expulsion and legal action. Everyone deserves to feel safe at school.
Mother Alleges Son Held at Knifepoint at NEHS Football Game
A mother is speaking out after she says her son was assaulted and robbed at knifepoint during a high school football game.
Kristy Wheeler alleges that her son, Landon, was followed into a bathroom at North East High School (NEHS) by two other students on Thursday, August 28, 2026.
According to Wheeler’s social media post, one boy acted as a lookout while the other searched Landon’s pockets.
When Landon refused to hand anything over, the second boy pulled a knife, held it to his stomach, and threatened that he had a gun.
However, Landon was able to push his way out and escape. The boys followed and intimidated him until he bought them a drink out of fear.
He later found an MPD officer and ran to him to report what had happened. One suspect was reportedly taken to jail.
The mother’s primary criticism is directed at the school’s response. She says no school official contacted her or Landon’s father about the violent assault, leaving her son unattended for the remainder of the game.
Furthermore, Wheeler claims the accused student is part of a group that regularly terrorizes others without consequence, creating a climate of fear where students are afraid to report them.
Her allegations raise serious questions about student safety and administrative accountability at NEHS. The school district has not yet issued a public statement regarding the incident.
A School’s Priority Fines Over Student Safety
Landon Wheeler’s parents arrived at NEHS on Friday for a meeting they had never previously requested. The night before, their son was held at knifepoint in a school bathroom.
What they encountered was a shocking display of misplaced priorities.
According to Kristy, the principal showed zero regard for the traumatic event Landon endured. There was no apology for the school’s failure to protect him or to inform them of the incident immediately.
Instead, the principal’s primary concern was retrieving a phone she had taken from Landon earlier that day and collecting an associated fine, which Kristy refused to pay.
The family made the immediate decision to withdraw Landon from the school. Even during this process, the focus remained on finances, with the principal asking about an outstanding lunch balance.
It raised a critical question: was a student’s well-being more important than the school’s money?
The assistant principal acknowledged that he was present during the knifepoint incident, yet he also failed to call the parents. When the principal did call later, she was full of excuses, blaming the large crowd for the administration’s failure to act.
Furthermore, the Wheelers feel the school utterly failed their son. They have one child remaining in the district by choice, but warn that their patience is thin.
Everyone at this school failed Landon Thursday night. If it had been one of their children, they would have a very different perspective.
