While Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is active in the 2026 NFL season, the lawsuit against him from the March 2026 car crash involving Kathryn Kuykendall is still awaiting settlement.

On March 30, 2026, Rice and his former SMU teammate, Theodore Knox, were racing sports cars on a Dallas freeway.

According to reports, Rice was driving a Lamborghini Urus SUV at 119 miles per hour, which led to a multi-vehicle crash.

Following the crash, Rice was arrested on suspicion of multiple charges, including aggravated assault and collision involving serious bodily injury.

After the arrest, Dallas County District Attorney John Creuzot warned of the dangers of street racing.

“When someone with Mr. Rice’s public platform chooses to drive so recklessly, there is a responsibility to acknowledge the danger posed to others and take accountability. A vehicle in the wrong hands can be as dangerous as any weapon. We are extremely fortunate that no lives were lost that day, and Mr. Rice is fortunate to have walked away unharmed. We hope he takes this as an opportunity to mature and leads by example moving forward. I wish him the best in making safer choices.”

Subsequently, after victim Kathryn Kuykendall filed the case, Rice was sentenced to five years of probation and 30 days of jail time, to be served during the probation period.

Rashee Rice Crash Victim Kathryn Kuykendall’s Lawyer Says They Have Not Yet Received Lawsuit Payment!

According to Dallas County court records, Judge Kim Bailey Phipps ordered Rice to pay Kathryn Kuykendall $1 million plus interest.

While the actual plus amount is not disclosed, it seems to cover the victim’s lawyer fees and legal expenses.

As per Kathryn Kuykendall’s lawyer, Marc Lenahan, Rice agreed to pay the $1 million settlement in two parts, with $500,000 upfront and the remaining $500,000 within 30 days.

It has been more than a year since the March accident, yet Rice has not made the payment. In his statement to the media, Marc said:

“Now it’s all up to Rashee, whether or not he wants to do right by anybody or he just wants to do right enough to minimize the damage to his career, We still don’t know what his motivations are: If he’s trying to get out of trouble or if he’s trying to make things right.”

“Instead of taking out a loan to pay the $1 million-plus settlement he reached with my client, he’s left her to struggle for more than a year already, and it seems that he plans to let her struggle without payment for at least another year.”

Immediately after the accident, Rice clearly expressed his guilt and apologized for his actions, promising to assist the victims. With no payment done yet, Lawyer Lenahan says. “But he’s not yet showing that he does.”

While Rice is still active in the NFL season and remains on the roster, many believe he is trying to avoid the settlement he promised.
