In early 2026, Kaitlyn Fernandez was released from county jail while 38 weeks pregnant, after spending her entire pregnancy incarcerated at Falkenburg Road Jail alongside her partner, Josh.
The couple endured a long period of separation, unable to see each other in person during this crucial time.
Upon Kaitlyn’s release, remained in jail for a few more months, unable to attend the birth of their son.
Their brief reunion was followed by another run-in with the law, which left Kaitlyn incarcerated again while Josh was released.
Tragically, during her sentence, she received the devastating news that Josh had been murdered.
Because of her incarceration, she could not attend his funeral and could only say her final goodbyes via video call as his brother held up a phone to his body.
