The Hamshire-Fannett community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Jayleigh Danielle Moralez, a senior varsity softball catcher whose life and presence left an unforgettable mark both on and off the field.
At just 18 years old, Jayleigh’s sudden passing has devastated her family, friends, teammates, and all who knew her.
The Hamshire-Fannett Athletic Booster Club Jayleigh by remembering her as more than just an athlete.
They described her as a leader, a friend, and a teammate whose light shone brightly in every space she entered.
“Behind the plate, she showed courage, grit, and determination. Off the field, she showed kindness, laughter, and a smile that will never be forgotten,” the group shared in a heartfelt tribute.
Her passion for softball extended beyond school. The Gladiators Softball program also paid tribute, calling it “a tough day to be a Glad” after losing one of their own.
The team vowed to keep her memory alive, saying,
“Jayleigh will forever be a part of our GladFam and will always be with us.”
To support the Moralez family during this time, the Gladiators set up a and encouraged donations to ease the family’s burden.
Friends and classmates are also grappling with the loss. Drailyn Moore led a moving prayer, thanking God for Jayleigh’s life and asking for comfort during this time of grief.
“Even though her time with us feels far too short, we recognize that her life was a gift, a beautiful gift that reflected your love,” he , encouraging others to carry forward Jayleigh’s legacy of kindness, joy, and love.
For her family, the grief is indescribable. Her aunt, Una Andrea Escobar, shared her heartbreak, writing,
“My 18-year-old niece unexpectedly passed away. Jayleigh was smart, athletic, funny, beautiful, and very sassy. Jessica, Danny, and Jordan will never ever be the same.”
She asked for patience and prayers for Jayleigh’s parents as they navigate unimaginable pain, reminding the community that they are simply trying to exist in the wake of such a loss.
Jayleigh’s death has left a profound void in Hamshire-Fannett and beyond.
Those who knew her remember a young woman full of life, drive, and heart—someone who embodied the true spirit of her team and community.
Her memory now lives on through the people she touched, the laughter she shared, and the love she gave so freely.
As the community rallies around her family, one truth remains clear: Jayleigh Moralez will never be forgotten.
