A 68-year-old man from Thibodaux who worked the game clock at Friday night’s big playoff game between Neville and Ouachita high schools, Ray Salvadore Marcello Jr., got arrested a few hours later for driving drunk in Monroe.
Ray Salvadore Marcello Jr., who lives at 159 Body Shop Court in Thibodaux, was picked up by police around 1:20 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2026, at North 4th Street and Arkansas Avenue.
Monroe Police Officer S.T. Kennedy said he watched Marcello driving a maroon Dodge van and saw it make a bad left turn from North 5th Street onto U.S. 80.
Then, the officer turned on his lights and pulled the van over right there at 4th and Arkansas, a short time later.
When the officer got to the window, he could tell something was wrong.
He noticed that Marcello was drunk, having a hard time keeping his balance, and looked impaired.

Police made it clear the arrest had nothing at all to do with the football game or who won or lost. Marcello had simply been the person running the clock for the Neville and Ouachita game earlier that night.
