This Kentucky Momma Is LIVID: Her Daughter Got Detention For a Normal Basketball Gesture

A frustrated Kentucky mother took to Facebook to express her anger after her daughter was unfairly punished at school.

Her daughter has been a dedicated basketball player for the past eight years.

However, her small gesture, which is not at all harmful, is now being treated as a serious offense by the school.

Kentucky Mother’s Facebook Outcry Over School’s Unjust Detention!

In her post, wrote that she was “LIVID” because her daughter was handed a full day of detention for a gesture that is common in sports culture.

According to Courtney, the incident occurred in a school hallway where her daughter tapped a close friend on the bu** and said, “It’s okay,” a gesture she’s done countless times during games.

A teacher witnessed it and reported it. This led to a call from the principal and a full-day detention.

According to her, the simple tap was neither inappropriate nor harmful; it was simply an encouraging gesture for the athletes.

Courtney is furious because she believes the school is ignoring more serious issues like bullying, vaping, and disrespectful behavior, saying:

Are you kidding me?! With everything else that goes on in schools these days — bullying, kids being disrespectful to teachers, fights, vaping in the bathrooms, you name it — THIS is what they’re wasting their time and energy on? Punishing a good kid with zero bad intentions?!

Moreover, she also made it clear that she plans to raise her voice strongly against the school’s decision.

In her post, many of her neighbours and well-wishers came forward to show support and share their own experiences.

Another supporter commented that the punishment was “actually crazy,” pointing out how her old school handled much bigger issues:

That’s actually crazy. Just seen a post not long ago about the school I went to where 2 girls got in a fight bc one girl stole the other girls thc pen, didn’t see anything about any consequences tho

but a whole day of detention for playfully tapping your friends butt is very much pushing it, a simple “you shouldn’t do that at school bc of this/that” would have been more than enough lol.

 I’m convinced teachers send kids to detention just because they can and it makes them feel like they did something/ feel in charge. I remember getting detention for multiple days just over a simple argument

To show support for Courtney, one mother also shared a similar experience that happened to her son at school, saying:

This happened to my son last year. He is 9 years old and plays football. One of his team mates who is also in class with him tapped him on the butt like they do at games or practices. Teacher called me and told me she pulled my son aside and made sure he didn’t feel like he had been “assaulted” I was beyond pissed.

While some people have suggested that Courtney Michelle should go directly to the school and speak with administrators face-to-face.

Many agree that schools should handle these situations with understanding rather than heavy punishments.
