UTSA Roadrunners football quarterback Owen McCown has supportive parents, including his father, Josh McCown, a former football player and current football coach.

Owen McCown is now rising along with the victory of UTSA over Tulane.

In the game, he delivered a dominant performance on October 30, 2026, completing 31 of 33 passes for 370 yards and four touchdowns.

Quarterback Owen McCown Credits His Parents for His Rising Career, Especially His Father, Josh McCown, Who Coached Him

Born on February 14, 2003, Owen McCown was one of the four childrens of Josh and Natalie McCown.

Owen’s parents, Josh and Natalie McCown, are high school sweethearts who started dating at Southern Methodist University.

While not much detail about his mother, Natalie’s personal life is known; what is known is that she is the Superwoman of the family and a pillar of support for everyone.

On the other hand, Owen’s father, Josh, is the former quarterback who had played for multiple teams in his prime.

Josh was drafted in the third round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He played for multiple teams and passed for over 17,700 yards and 98 touchdowns during his professional career.

After his professional football career, he moved into coaching, sharing his extensive knowledge of the game with younger players, including his own children.

As of now, Josh is the quarterbacks coach of the Minnesota Vikings NFL Team under head coach Kevin O’Connell. The Vikings hired him on February 27, 2026.

With his father being in the sports field, Owen also got the chance to explore his own talent and is now making his way toward an NFL journey.
