NBA rising star Alex Sarr has reportedly gained significant weight during the 2026 offseason as a part of his physical development.

Washington Wizards forward Alex Sarr, who stands at 7 feet 1 inch, finished his rookie season last year when he weighed just 205 pounds.

The light frame made it tough for him to push around bigger players in the NBA. Hence, after finishing his rookie season, Sarr spent the offseason working hard in the gym and eating right.

By the start of training camp in September 2026, Alex Sarr had made quite a change to his body, stepping on the scale at 224 pounds.

The NBA player also noted that he hopes that he has improved in his shooting around this season.

During his first year, showed flashes of talent but often struggled against heavier opponents. He was pushed around in the paint and struggled to finish through contact.

That’s why this offseason, Sarr prioritized building muscle and improving his strength.

His training included weightlifting, core exercises, and mobility work. Similarly, he also paid close attention to his diet, making sure he ate enough protein and calories to support muscle growth.

The Wizards’ coaching staff helped guide his progress, and the added weight has already made a difference.

In one recent game, Sarr scored 21 points on strong drives and dunks. Sarr looks more confident and is finishing stronger, grabbing more rebounds, and defending better against physical players.

Wizards general manager Will Dawkins likes the progress and has made it clear that player development remains a vital focus for this team as they continue their rebuild.
