I can’t believe this is even something that I have to say… my little cousin, who was more like another little brother to me as I helped you grow up, I changed your diapers, I helped search for you when we thought you were missing and you were hiding in the play set watching us all and laughing, I cheered you on through sports at every level, I got to see you love my children and be present in their lives, I prayed when you left for basic, I wrote letters while you were away and prayed for your safe return, I picked you up when you would call when you had a little too much, I watched you mature and realize what’s most important in life to you, I hear your laugh today so vividly, I watched you and Cole and brenden turn being cousins into being brothers, you helped watch my kids anytime you could and yeah, maybe you taught them cuss words but they will always remember that part of you, the part we will all remember…
Dylan Ely, who works at Lennox and Ely Heating and Cooling, also offered his heartfelt condolences.
Last night I lost my childhood best friend, Spencer — though to us he was always “Red” or “Spence.” It still doesn’t feel real. Just last weekend he was standing by my side at my wedding, helping me get ready, laughing like we always did. That’s the kind of friend he was — always showing up when it mattered. Please keep his dad, his mom, and his brother in your prayers as they walk through this heartbreak and try to find peace. Rest easy, brother. Until we meet again.
Christopher Edwards, Spencer’s former roommate, also mourned the loss. He wrote,
Words can’t describe how much this hurts. You were my roommate, my best friend, and my brother you’ve seen me at my lowest and seen me at my greatest you were always there for me when I needed you. I hate to see you gone. I love you Ski. Rest in peace and until Valhalla brother!
Other close ones and relatives have also poured their heartfelt condolences and sent prayers to Spencer’s family to stay strong in this difficult time.
He will always be remembered for his unforgettable contributions as a football player.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Tuesday, October 7, from 1 PM until 6 PM at Behm Funeral Home, 182 W.
