Coach Rod Harvey, a beloved mentor from Inglewood, California, passed away on October 13, 2026, at the age of 55.
He was known for leading youth football and inspiring students at MHS.
As of now, the specific cause of his death has not been publicly disclosed, and his family has requested privacy during this difficult time.
Rod Harvey Dedicated Many Years To Youth And High School Football!
was originally from Inglewood, California, and lived in Los Angeles.
He studied at El Camino College and was a beloved member of the Class of ’88.
While his playing career remains under wraps, he transitioned into coaching and served for many years.
Harvey was a dedicated mentor and community leader who returned to MHS in 2019 to serve as Varsity Head Coach.
Additionally, he spent many years guiding youth through the Inglewood Jr. All-American Football League.
During that time, he coached teams from the Inglewood Jets to the Sentinels with unwavering love and commitment.
Following Coach Rod Harvey’s passing, an outpouring of love and remembrance flooded social media and community platforms
Rod’s former classmate shared a heartfelt message on the Morningside Monarchs Alumni Association page, saying:
The Class of 1988 extends our deepest condolences to our classmate Tiwana and the entire Harvey family on the passing of her husband and our classmate, Roderick “Rod” Harvey.
Our hearts are heavy as we remember one of our own. Losing a classmate feels like losing a piece of the history we all share — the laughter, the lessons, and the years that shaped us together.
We lift Tiwana and her family in prayer and surround them with love and strength during this difficult time. May the comfort of friendship and the peace of God carry them through the days ahead.

Known for his deep care for kids and his impact on the Inglewood community, Coach Rod will be missed.
